Eating disorder
Since there are different kinds of eating disorder the approach for a friend who has an eating disorder will be different. For instance if my friend has been affected by anorexia, I will try to encourage her to eat I will point out how skinny she is. Also I will try to explain to her that she doesn’t look pretty any more because the clothes do not fit the way they should. I know probably these tricks may not work but also I will encourage eating foods that will not make her gain weight. I try to make her eat a lot of fruits and low carb diet. I know it will not be easy to make her eat since she fears to gain weight.
If all these efforts do not work I will encourage her to psychological help. I am sure her mind will change and she will start to eat as a normal person.

I know that you are trying to help your friend by saying that she does not look good in an outfit becasue she is too skinny but I will not recomman that kind of approch. If she is already feeling low about herself and she is already at the worse stage of her eating disorder then what you say might make things worse that they already are. A lot of people who have eating disorders feel like that is the one thing they can control. It also makes them feel good in times that someone say something hurtfull to them. So my suggestion to you is to get your friend professional help.
Encouragement is always needed among women with eating disorders. I would not tell my friend that she doesn't look pretty anymore but I would tell her that her clothes use to look so well on her. I would tell her that her clothes are way too large for her. I am glad that you would encourage your friend to eat fruits and carbohydrates. I am also pleased that you would take her to a professional for help.
